Liquid Chromatography
High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), is one of the most widely used analytical techniques.Reasons for its widespread use are its sensitivity, its easy adaptability to quantitative determinations, its suitability for the separation of non-volatile or easily temperature-degradable compounds.
HPLC devices generally contain a pump, injector, column oven, detector and data logger system.Separation takes place in the column.The stationary phase consists of mm scaled particles, so high pressure pumps are needed to pass the mobile phase through the column.The chromatographic process begins with the injection of the sample into the column.The separation of components continues by pumping the analyte and mobile phase into the column.The detector response received for each separated component is displayed as a chromatogram on the computer screen.
There are 3 HPLC (Shimadzu)systems with 4 different detectors in our center. Available detectors are diode array detector (DAD), ultraviolet detector (UV), fluorescence detector (RF), and refractive index detector (RID).
